Getting Started

1. What if I’m new to DISC facilitation or don’t feel like a DISC expert?

You’re exactly who this Kit was designed to support.

You don’t need to be a DISC expert to facilitate a professional workshop. The DISC Facilitator Kit provides the structure, professionally developed materials, facilitator guide and script, and short tutorial videos to help you get up and running quickly. When paired with one of our validated DISC assessments, the Kit will help you facilitate engaging DISC workshops with confidence.

No one is born a DISC expert. Every DISC expert started with their first workshop. Every workshop builds experience, and experience builds confidence.

2. Do I need to be DISC certified to use this Kit?

No. DISC Certification is not needed. The DISC Styles Workshop Facilitator Kit™ includes the structure, materials, facilitation guidance, and support resources needed to facilitate the workshop.

3. How quickly can I be ready to facilitate?

It depends on how quickly you open and apply the materials. The DISC Facilitator Kit is ready to go with minimal prep. All you need to do is review materials, add your contact information and info to one of the slides (or delete the slide if you prefer), and prepare for delivery much faster than building a workshop from scratch.

The workshop structure, participant materials, facilitator guidance, and activities are already prepared.

4. Are DISC assessments included?

No. DISC assessments are sold separately.

5. Is facilitator training included?
No. This is a workshop facilitation kit, not a facilitator training program.

However, the kit includes facilitation guidance, a facilitator script, planning tools, checklists, and a support video to help you prepare and deliver the workshop.

Using the Kit

6. Can I brand and customize the materials?

Yes. You may co-brand the Slide Deck by adding your logo, picture, and contact information. You may also customize the text and examples in the Slide Deck to fit your audience and delivery style. The remaining materials are not editable.

7. Can I use this workshop with paying clients?

Yes. While you can’t resell any of the materials in the DISC Facilitator Kit as stand-alone products, you can use the materials with paying clients according to the Terms of Use of your license, provided each participant has completed a DISC assessment purchased from Melena Consulting Group.

8. What does the license allow me to do with the DISC Facilitator Kit?

  • Single Facilitator License: Your purchase includes a single facilitator license that allows you to use the DISC Facilitator Kit to deliver unlimited DISC workshops and sessions for your students, employees, or clients according to the Terms of Use, provided each participant has completed a DISC assessment purchased from Melena Consulting Group.
  • Slide Deck and Facilitator Guide: You may co-brand and edit the Slide Deck to deliver your own presentations, including adding your contact information and image. The Slide Deck and Facilitator Guide are licensed for use by one facilitator only and may not be shared, distributed, sold, published online, repurposed, provided to participants, or used to create derivative works.
  • Participant Workbook: You may add your contact information to the Participant Workbook and distribute it to workshop participants as a complete workbook or as individual worksheets and handouts. The Participant Workbook is not co-brandable or editable. It is licensed for use by one facilitator only and may not be sold, published online, repurposed, used to create derivative works, or distributed to individuals or entities other than workshop or session participants.

Purchasing, Access & Support

11. Is this a subscription?

No. The DISC Facilitator Kit is a one-time purchase. Your purchase includes a non-exclusive, revocable license to use the materials in accordance with the Terms of Use to deliver unlimited workshops and sessions. There are no recurring subscription fees.

12. What happens after I purchase? How do I access the materials?
As soon as you complete your purchase, you’ll receive an email with your paid invoice and instant access to the DISC Facilitator Kit through our Learning Management System (LMS). From there, you can download the workshop materials and access the tutorial videos.

13. What if I love the Kit and want to upgrade to the LeadershipStrength™ Suite?

This DISC Facilitator Kit is not part of the LeadershipStrength™ Suite. However, if you purchase the Suite within 14 days of purchasing the DISC Facilitator Kit, you’ll receive full credit for the amount you paid for the Kit toward your Suite purchase.

To request the credit, simply email CustomerCare@melenaconsulting.com within 14 days of your purchase and include your paid invoice number. We’ll apply your DISC Facilitator Kit purchase toward your LeadershipStrength™ Suite upgrade.

14. Is support available after I purchase the Kit?

14. Do you offer refunds?

No. Because the DISC Facilitator Kit includes immediate access to the Kit’s downloadable digital materials, all sales are final, non-refundable, and non-transferrable.

Who Am I To Teach This?

Hi! I’m Sylvia Melena. 

I’m the Founder and CEO of Melena Consulting Group and the international award-winning and best-selling leadership author of Supportive Accountability: How to Inspire People and Improve Performance. I’m also an Association for Talent Development (ATD) Master Instructional Designer™ and a Certified DISC Trainer.

With a Master of Arts in Leadership and Organizational Studies, a PhD in Leadrship Studies under way, and over 20 years’ experience in the trenches of management, I have coached, developed, and trained hundreds of managers and supervisors in person and have inspired thousands around the world.

My leadership philosophy has been featured by the Society of Human Resources Management HR Today, the Human Performance Association, Entrepreneur, LEADx, Fit Small Business, and other outlets.

You see, strong leadership is a work in progress. And it’s all in the approach. 

In my early career, I was frequently blunt and sometimes even rude. But I was fortunate to work with people who cared about me enough to give me honest feedback.

I particularly remember a brutally honest reaction from a co-worker like it was yesterday.

I don’t remember what I said to trigger him or how I said it, but I vividly recall the horror on his face and his shocking response to my affront: “Shoot from the hip, why don’t you! Next time, try using a little tact!”

I was stunned, momentarily speechless, and in disbelief. 

I didn’t know what he meant. So, I asked him to explain, and he did.

Thanks to his honest feedback and the support of others, I had an amazing 20-year leadership career in health and human services. I had the honor of directly managing workforces from about 80 to 300 employees and supporting performance for up to 1,400 in my senior leadership roles.

And most people enjoyed working with me and giving their best.

Yes, I said, “Most.”

The truth is, not everyone will enjoy working with you no matter how much you adapt your leadership communication. And that’s okay. Not everyone will like you. But that’s not your goal anyways.

Your goal is to be the best leader you can be, create a great workplace, promote accountability, and achieve measurable results. These are the things I intentionally worked on to elevate my leadership.

Because of my ongoing journey, I’m a firm believer in the power of positive feedback and supportive accountability to transform lives. But I also know it’s hard sometimes.
